Candid Beautifully Workshop/MarryMeCottage/St. Charles Wedding Photography

One of the hardest things I have had to develop in my business is connecting with my clients on more than just a professional level. I want them to receive their galleries knowing I made their session personal to them. Being able to get to know them and capture them candidly has grown & changed my business immensely. Looking back on last year and seeing how much it has positively impacted my business, I decided I wanted to share the knowledge and ideas with other photographers. A photographer that is able to provide a diverse image gallery in a short amount of time is not an easy task!

This is where The Candid Beautifully Workshop came into play…..

”If indeed you must be candid, be Candid Beautifully”

Think about that for a second. There are many ways to catch a candid photograph, but to execute the candid image in a beautiful way is difficult when you’re working in the moment. So what if as photographers, we focused more on the client connection and basic movements to really capture a candid moment? You end up with beautiful things.

10 amazing boss babes gathered at The Marry Me Cottage in O’Fallon, MO to learn, grow, and get dinner. You all know I won’t skip a chance to have a good meal. We talked about posing tips, easy actions to tell clients to maximize the shots rendered, how to flow from one pose to the next, and even some business tips. We were able to work with some outstanding wedding vendors in our area and their work was gorgeously showcased.

Each girl has a different business, different goals, and a different creative eye, yet we were able to come together and have fun, share ideas, just for the love of the industry! I am so blessed I was able to share parts of my journey with others in hopes to help them grow their business.

Macy & Bobbie Engaged/Belleville Illinois/Jheart Photography

When Macy & Bobbie called me and told me about their plans for an intimate backyard farm wedding, I melted. I am a huge sucker for the small romantic weddings, especially if it’s on gorgeous family farm property where you know it’s safe to have a big party!

These two beauties met while working together, which now days seem extraordinary because seems like everyone is meeting online. The Saturday we worked together was that crazy, 60 degree weekend here in the midwest, confirming how bi-polar midwest weather is! Since it was SO beautiful, we took it to the streets and started off in their town of Belleville. Macy & Bobbie wanted to shoot downtown in the heart of the city for some beautiful urban looks. Downtown Belleville reminded me so much of Historic St. Charles with cobblestone streets, old adorable houses that look so cozy, and a really cute businesses along the main strip. Bar Seven is where we ended, was such a fun dive bar with a super cute alley way, that we obviously took advantage of.

Macy & Bobbie were such a joy to work with and to get to capture their love in my lens. I am stoked to be at their wedding in September. I already feel like one of the family and it makes me even more excited to meet the whole family!

Amanda & Christina Engaged ~ Blanchette Park/St. Charles Wedding Photographer

Going into an engagement session where I haven't met the couple yet, makes me probably about as nervous as getting in front of the camera. Amanda & Christina however, were perfection. Watching them interact & constantly make each smile made my heart so happy. Blanchette Park in St. Charles did it again by providing an outstanding back drop for this session.

I am so excited these ladies are in the 2019 JHP wedding line up. I know their day is going to be one to remember and a whole lot of fun!

Annie & Austin Engagement/St. Charles Wedding Photographer/Blanchette Park Pictures

WOW! I have not shot at Blanchette Park in awhile and let me say they have done some GORGEOUS things to this Memorial Garden area. Not only can you rent it to get married, I got to shoot Annie & Austin's engagement session here and it was PERFECTION! It looks like a Secret Garden when you put too very love people in the middle of it and starting snapping pictures. I am over the moon excited to be at there wedding in September.

St. Charles Wedding photographer/St. Louis wedding Photographer/Dee & Carl Engagement Main Street St. Charles

Historic Main Street in St. Charles Missouri is always a beautiful stage for pictures. Dee & Carl illuminated it even more during their session. They way they make each other laugh and care for their sweet Pup made this session one to remember.

I am really excited to hear the details of their big day, but in the mean time they are really enjoying traveling and just being engaged. Makes my heart melt! I hope you love this session as much as I did! Especially the delicious sweet treat at the end! Riverside Sweets on Main Street is a must stop if you are ever in the area.

St. Charles Photographer/St. Charles Family Photographer/Cherish & Steve 1 year

Cherish is my "best good friend"...said in my best Forest Gump voice. She is the kindest most genuine person I know. I don't think words can express how beautiful it is to see her happy in love. Bonus points because Steve is so good to her and an amazing man. I was beyond excited to shoot these. We even had an adorable doggie crash the party!

St. Charles Engagement Photographer/St. Charles Wedding Photographer/Maggie & Catie Engaged

Maggie & Catie are in the 2018 Jheart Wedding Line up. Upon speaking with Maggie I immediately knew this was going to be a great relationship. As soon as I saw them interact with each other I had no doubt this session was going to rock. I asked Maggie a few questions prior to the shoot and one was asking to tell me the story of your proposal and let me tell ya...Maggie did not miss a beat when planning this....

Maggie sent Catie on a scavenger hunt through family and friends. She had cards and flowers delivered to Catie by amazing friends and loved family. She chose all the most important people in Catie's life to present this next life step in all the important places of their relationship. Like the spot where they first met and that is just so beautiful. It really shows why when asked what Catie's favorite thing about Maggie is her big heart.

Then, after 2 clues, and a lunch with her family here is what the third clue read:

"#3 - You've gone from 1st, to 2nd and now 3rd.  Where do you go from here? Run home! Meet me downtown at our favorite venue.  The home plate from Busch Stadium 2, is where I'll be waiting for you"

Catie then was proposed to with Maggie down on one knee and of course she said yes!

These two really have an amazing love and being in front of the camera didn't phase it one bit. They really made my heart full after shooting them and I think it really shows in these pictures.

St. Charles Wedding Photographer/St. Charles Photographer/Cole Wedding Klondike Park

Last year I was asked to capture Josh's proposal to Ms. Sheena and it was BEAUTIFUL down on Main Street in St. Charles. Then, we did another amazing shoot at Busch Wildlife in St. Charles for their engagement pictures. So it would only seem natural to pick another gorgeous location like Klondike Park for their beautiful outdoor wedding. Sheena put so much into every detail of her wedding that it really made my job fun. I love putting all the details together.  Her ring box was one of. my favorite pieces. The dreamsicle favored cake wasn't too shabby either!

It was a great joy to be able to celebrate with them as they joined together as one. They really know how to throw a celebration!

Thank you Josh and Sheena for entrusting me with capturing this amazing day.

St. Charles Photographer/St. Charles Wedding Photographer/Jennifer & Alex 5 years

A few years after I started my business Jennifer asked me to shoot their wedding. It wasn't just any wedding either, it would have been the first paid wedding in my career. It was this wedding that made me fall in love with weddings. The details, the excitement, the hustle, I really fell in love with all aspects.

So naturally I was so excited when she asked me to shoot their 5 year anniversary back in beautiful Herman where they got married. We went to the Herman Hill Inn, Cottages, & Vineyards which is an adorable place to stay on top of the hill. It was so great to see these two still so happy in love. They have expanded now and have a little 3 year old boy name Lucas who I am dying to meet. Thank you so much Alex & Jennifer, it was amazing to see you and even more of a blessing to get to capture the love you two have for each other.

St. Charles Wedding Photographer/St. Charles Styled Shoot at The White Owl

This was my first ever styled shoot and I have to admit I might be addicted. Getting all the details together, low pressure to get amazing shots, and just laid back fn. It also totally helps that Megan & Tyler are so happy in love that it burst through my camera. I met Megan through a job as well as college quite a few years ago. Seeing her grown up and happy in love was such a blessed bonus to this shoot. Tyler is hilarious and constantly made her laugh, which always rocks pictures.

I also need to thank the amazing hair & makeup gal Amanda Darby Bluestein with The Maplewood Beauty Bar Salon. Her skills behind the chair never fail. Seriously look her up if you are in need of wedding hair and make-up. She will take care of you!

Thank you so much to The White Owl for allowing us to use your beautiful venue.

Disclaimer...this is a style shoot...the couple pictured did NOT get married :-)
